On Saturday 29th August 2026, the North West Tractor Pulling Club (NWTPC) is honoured to have been selected to host a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), featuring some of Britain’s most iconic historic aircraft, including the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Dakota.
At first glance, tractor pulling and the BBMF may seem to have little in common, but they are united by a shared legacy of engineering excellence. Many of the powerful engines that have become legendary in tractor pulling originated in military and aviation applications. Designed to be lightweight, exceptionally strong, and capable of delivering outstanding reliability in the most demanding conditions, these engines provided the perfect foundation for the incredible horsepower seen on today’s pulling tracks.
The BBMF keeps this remarkable aviation heritage alive in the skies, while tractor pulling celebrates it on the ground. It’s a unique connection between two very different worlds, both driven by a passion for preserving history, showcasing engineering innovation, and inspiring future generations.
As with all historic aircraft operations, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is subject to suitable weather and operational conditions. The safety of the aircraft, crews, and the public is always the highest priority. While every effort will be made for the flypast to take place as planned, the display may be delayed, altered, or cancelled if weather or operational requirements make it necessary.
